Lunar Valentine's Day

March 3, 2026

A few years after our wedding, we decided we didn't want to go out on February 14. The restaurants are crowded, it's noisy, and all the prices are extra-high, because "It's a special day!"

Oh, we still wanted to spend time together, and we've no complaint with Saint Valentine. But we decided to hop off the tredmill and make our own holiday — Lunar Valentine's Day. It's just as special as the one you're used to, but without all the hype and extra-high prices. And it's so much easier to get a table at our favorite restaurant!

The original Lunar Valentine's Day was set six weeks after the traditional one, but it's more fun to have it tied to the full moon. Plus, every so often, you get two full moons in the same month, that means you have two Lunar Valentine's Days that year.

Or, you know, you could choose another day that you prefer. The choice is yours, and that's the point.
